My Top 6 Kitchen Gadgets I Can’t Live Without!

The very first question I get asked by my girls when my feet touch the floor in the morning  is, “Mom, what’s for breakfast?” The second question is, “Mom, have you had your coffee?” I guess they understand that nothing really happens until I get my morning cup of hope!
Since we have decided to live a whole-foods, vegan lifestyle it has me in the kitchen cooking (and creating) more foods than ever before. That is perfectly fine with me because I simply love cooking, even more, I love seeing my family’s faces when eating my yummy creations.

Now a days, I try to make as many things from scratch as possible, like breads, hummus and pesto! Creating tasty vegan foods can be a challenge–but with some creativity and the right tools, you can do it.

So I thought I would take some time away from my kitchen to talk about some of the superstars in my kitchen. Without them, my creations would be impossible!

#1 – Cuisinart Elite 2.0 16-Cup Food Processor:

When people ask me (especially folks who are thinking of adding vegan dishes to their lives) what tool I would recommend, I always start with a really good food processor. Vegan dishes are primarily made of vegetables and legumes (beans) and chopping and mashing is time consuming and sometimes doesn’t get you the consistency that you are desiring (like for hummus). I use my food processor every day (no joking). No longer do I chop onions and garlic, my machine does it for me. Cuisinart is durable, very easy to use (I like my gadgets easy!) and extremely easy to clean (another huge plus).

#2 – Vitamix Blender:

I still remember the day, some 20 years ago, when my mom and dad purchased the Vitamix. They saw a demonstration and bought it, along with a bag full of fruits and veggies. All day long we were blending up smoothies and soups. Well 20 years later I am the proud owner of that same Vitamix! I point that out to show just how sturdy they are. I use my Vitamix for so many things: blending, chopping, soups (yes it will get it hot), and even ice cream.  I know there are new models out there but I am sticking to mine as long as she will last!

#3 – Hamilton Beach Rice Cooker & Steamer Combo:

Living in Korea taught me many things, but one thing in particular was always have a rice cooker! I can’t imagine having a kitchen without one. Yes, Korea marked me! In fact, my mom still has the same exact rice cooker from Korea, it is 31 years old!! The reasons why I love this particular cooker is because it’s settings distinguish between whole grain and white rice, and let’s you choose the cooking speed. I have not had a bad pot yet. I also like the steamer function as well and use it to steam veggies and my homemade hotdogs. Oh, the price isn’t too bad either!

#4 – KitchenAid Mixer:

We received our KitchenAid as a house warming gift. Ooooh…la…la...Monday mornings my girls wake to mommy in the kitchen making bread. I love baking bread. The kitchenAid helps me with the process so much. This baby makes mixing easy. Your KitchenAid will come with three different attachments can you can also purchase additional attachments to make pasta and ice cream!

#5 – Wilton Bread Pans

Ok, so once you have that delicious bread dough, they have to go into something right? My bread pans bring a smile to my face every time I see them. They are the perfect size and always help me create the perfect loaves. I bake all types of breads in these and I appreciate how easy it is removing the bread and how easy it is to keep clean.

#6 – Lemon Squeezer, Hand Held:

Last, but not really last in my heart, is my beloved lemon squeezer. Honestly, I think this gadget gets used the most by me on a daily basis. I am a huge fan of lemons. We are talking adoration ya’ll. I put lemon juice in everything (ok not everything, definitely not in my coffee, but just about everything else). I like this particular squeezer because of it’s strength–it gets all the juice out every time. I also like it because seeds do not pop through, that is because of the material used. I truly love this hard working handheld!

Ok, so there you have it, my top 6 Can’t Live Without Kitchen Gadgets.

Now it’s your time to SHINE! What kitchen gadgets are a MUST HAVE for you??

I hope this helps inspire some creativity in the kitchen and as always,

Stay Encouraged & Be Blessed!

    1. Valerie, so I am taking your comment as a sign! I had a slow cooker a long time ago (like ten years, it was actually a wedding present). The only thing I ever made was chili so when we accidently forgot it on vacation I thought, no worries, I can just make my chili on the stove. But over the past month more and more people have been urging me to get a slow cooker, and now you–so I will have to give it a try. Any recipes (other than chili) that you like? Also, what brand/style would you recommend? Thanks for the comment, encouragement and advice!
